Paint Lead


JOB TITLE:       Paint Lead
REPORTS TO:     Plant Manager     
FLSA STATUS:  Non Exempt / Full-time

JOB SUMMARY:  Paint Lead trains and develops the Paint Department; delegates work assignments and identify continuous improvement opportunities. Ensure that departmental productivity targets are met to meet customer requirements. Promote and enforce compliance of safety policies and procedures, conduct performance evaluations and coach employees. Must have ability to effectively interact with all employees at all levels of the organization, company clients and company vendors.



  • Provide daily work direction to paint personnel
  • Employee Timeforce Approvals
  • Coordinate orders with management and purchasing department for paint / shop supplies
  • Ensure QC processes and procedures are adhered to
  • Maintain accurate equipment maintenance and repair logs
  • Coordinate equipment repairs as needed
  • Adhere to approval process for daily time sheets and ensure that timesheets are transmitted to Administration Assistant at the end of business each day
  • Developing employee performance review documentation utilizing existing document formats supplied by Human Resources
  • Documenting any work place related injuries and communicating with HR Director
  • Hazardous Waste Management Training
  • Inventory Control
  • Waste Control
  • Provide training to paint personal
  • Document paint usage
  • Maintain sand blasting and paint equipment
  • Transfer work orders to locations

Job Requirements and Standards:

  • Detailed understanding of paint processes and shop capabilities
  • Basic understanding of computer software, such as Word and Excel
  • Read and understand written information
  • Identify problems and review information


  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) is usually not required
  • 5+ years experience or Auto Body Degree


Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be acceptable.


Able to lift up to 50 lbs., bending, crawling, and being on feet for 8 plus hours per work day.
